In focus at this time is our missionary effort in Calcutta, India. 

Calcutta is located on the eastern edge of India and borders Bangladesh.  In order to fully understand this part of the globe, one must experience it.  Movies like, City of Joy, starring Patrick Swayze, give some understanding to the culture, but there really is no way of knowing what it is like to fully know the people and culture without being a part of it. 

Below is a map of India.  The population of Calcutta is estimated at 4 million by most counts.  Christians make up less than 1% of the population and have been estimated as low as 10,000.  In the USA, it is not uncommon to have 4 churches on one street corner.  In Calcutta, it is common to travel over an hour to and from church.  People travel on roads that are often more like what Westerners would consider to be rough dirt roads.




With fewer Christians in comparison to the West, and with the need for the Truth to be spread, it quickly becomes clear as to the challenge. 

This is the land where William Carey worked so hard to tell the people about God's Truth. 

This is the area of the world where God's people long to hear the Truth.

And this is the area where Christians can find themselves in harm's way.

Our focus in Calcutta is to support Creation Science, Children's Projects and to Spread the Gospel, The Good News.  Although the process is slow and challenging, we are certain that God is Sovereign and will create opportunities for His work in His time.
